Singapore, Malaysia or USA best for Platinum jewelry (setting only)?

Helpmate and my 20th anniversary is coming up. I live in US but am traveling to Malaysia (through Singapore). I would like to get a platinum mounting so my wife can pick out her stone. Does it make any variation which country I purchase it?
I survive in Singapore and I got a diamond ring for my wife from the US online because it was 30% cheaper! I have checked at many stores in Singapore but their prices are egotistic (because of high rental overheads). I can't comment on Malaysia.

I lean the platinum in Singapore it seems a bit more ‘real’ in characteristic but cost a bit more. USA is definitely cheaper but like I said the je sais quoi doesn’t seems good.
